The Monkey bike is the name given by Honda to one of their small, low powered motorcycles introduced in the 1960s. The first Honda Monkey was the 1961 Z100 with later Monkeys designated Z50. These vehicles all had a 4.5hp, 49cc single horizontal cylinder four-stroke engine and a seat height of less than 22”. The very first Monkey bikes did not have any suspension, but this was soon added to the front forks.
Presented in yellow with a white tank, this example was awarded ‘Best in Class’ for an original Monkey bike by the Honda owners club and is in remarkable original condition. A real collector’s piece and an original UK supplied bike. This is a full matching numbers example offered with the original buff logbook, Honda dating certificate, V5 registration document, owner’s manual and original parts brochure alongside old tax discs and history which can be found in the accompanying file. An untouched Z50A with remarkably low miles and only one former keeper who cherished the bike for 41 years and kept it in his caravan for occasional holiday use until 2011. Since then, it has been kept in a heated and dehumidified garage and formed part of the Shamley collection.
