The Daimler DS420, often referred to as the "Daimler Limousine" is a quintessential symbol of British luxury and elegance, popular among royalty, dignitaries, and high-profile individuals. Introduced in 1968 and produced until 1992, this grand limousine was manufactured by Daimler, a subsidiary of Jaguar Cars. It was specifically designed to cater to the needs of ceremonial and formal occasions. Built on a stretched Jaguar Mark X platform, the DS420 featured a robust 4.2-litre inline-six engine, delivering smooth and reliable performance. Its design was imposing yet graceful, characterized by a long, sweeping body with a high roofline that maximized interior space. The iconic front grille, adorned with the Daimler fluted design, and the stately chrome accents further emphasized its aristocratic appeal. Inside, the DS420 offered unparalleled comfort. Its luxurious cabin was appointed with fine materials, including sumptuous leather upholstery, polished wood veneers, and plush carpeting. The spacious rear compartment, with a division between the driver and passengers, was designed for VIP occupants, often featuring fold-out occasional seats for added versatility. The DS420 became a favourite of the British Royal Family and many governments worldwide, often serving as an official state car. Though production ceased in 1992, its legacy endures as a timeless example of traditional British craftsmanship.
Originally registered on 10th November 1988 this right hand drive Daimler has only had one previous keeper. The current vendor has owned the car for the last 24 years and unsurprisingly it has been used on their wedding fleet. The car has been well maintained in-house, clearly reliability is of utmost importance in such circumstances. We are advised this DS420 drives as it should with no known faults. These Daimlers are a rare sight on the roads today, they remain a cherished classic among collectors and continues to be a symbol of opulence and prestige. Consigned by Stewart Banks
